“VOSTIZZA” CURRANT PASTE
A new addition in the products variety of “Vostizza” currants has been developed by P.E.S. Union.
The currant paste is produced exclusively by excellent quality, sorted and washed Ready-to-Use “Vostizza” currants using a state of the art system for cutting and pasting at large currants.
These currants are of the best quality, full riped. The contained pips are removed without cutting and are excluded from the product. Thus, the currant paste contains all ingredients of currants without any pips or fragments of them.
The currant paste may contain, upon request, a humectant such as glycerol at a ratio of no more than 5% (w/w). The product is self-stable with low water activity which results in very long self life, similar to that of currants, one year or longer.
The currant paste is full of antioxidants, such as anthocyains and polyphenols, as well as all other nutritional components such as vitamins and high-fiber.
Due to its high fructose content it has a high energy but a low glycaemic index, making it a product that can be consumed by most consumers.
No heat or other processes apart from a mild mechanical shearing are applied to the product, therefore it keeps intact its high nutritional value. The new product may be used in bakery products, such as an ingredient for biscuits, cakes and in all uses where a jam or marmelade is used. The currant paste has the additional advantage of being stable and having a strong flavor and aroma.
The product is packaged in wide variety of packages (such as sealed pouches) of different net weights for retail or business reasons according to customers’ needs.
